Cala Mesquida is on the
north east coast of Majorca and is separated from its nearest neighbour
by cliffs and pine forests.
Whilst much of the coast in this area is rocky, Cala Mesquida boasts
sand dunes leading down to a wonderful beach of fine sand. The beach
shelves gently into the sea making it ideal for children and weak
swimmers. Care must still be taken, however, and the warning flags
obeyed, as in some weather conditions there can be strong currents.
Apart from the beach which offers water sports, the surrounding hills
are ideal for walking. There are also riding stables close by. There
are shops providing holiday essentials as well as gifts and souvenirs.
Cala Mesquida is as peaceful by night as it is by day. There are a few
bars and restaurants but it is not a party resort. Those who do like to
dance and drink into the small hours can take a taxi to neighbouring
Cala Retjada where there are many bars and clubs.
